Tariffs raised to 15% for European wines in the USA

From 1 August, US customs duties on wines and spirits from the European Union will rise from 10% to 15%, in the absence of a tariff agreement.
The EU’s stated aim is to obtain an exemption or, at the very least, a fixed tax per litre under the most-favoured-nation clause.

👉 The measure could have a serious impact on French exporters, who have already been weakened by other trade tensions: it is feared that American consumers will pay almost €800 million in additional costs.
Discussions will continue in the autumn, but for the time being, the French wine industry is facing major uncertainty over its outlets on the other side of the Atlantic.
