US tariffs: 15% confirmed for European wines and spirits

Negotiations fell short: European wines and spirits exported to the US will now face 15% tariffs, according to a joint statement released on August 21, 2025. EU Trade Commissioner Maroơ Ơefčovič confirmed that exemption requests, especially from France and Italy, were unsuccessful.

Talks are still ongoing, but this increase could affect the secondary fine wine market, already under pressure from trade tensions and price volatility.
