Towards strict restrictions on sales and consumption
The National Authority for the Control of Alcohol and Drugs in Kenya (NACADA) is preparing for a major change. A project supported by the Ministry of Home Affairs plans to completely ban the sale of alcohol via online platforms, home deliveries and couriers. Ten types of retail outlets would also be affected, including petrol stations, restaurants and residential areas.
🍷 Another notable change is that the legal drinking age would be raised from 18 to 21. Before being adopted, these measures will be subject to public consultation, giving Kenyans the opportunity to have their say on a regulatory framework that is set to transform drinking habits.
