Cabernet Sauvignon: an iconic red wine with intense aromas

Powerful, structured and instantly recognisable, Cabernet Sauvignon is one of the world’s most famous red grape varieties. Born from a natural cross between Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, it has established itself over the centuries as an essential benchmark for great red wines.

Originally from south-west France, it is now grown on every continent. Bordeaux, Napa Valley, Chile, Australia… each terroir gives it a different expression, but one always characterised by fine structure and great aromatic richness.

👃 When young, Cabernet Sauvignon develops notes of blackcurrant, blackberry and black cherry. With age, more complex aromas of cedar, tobacco, spices and sometimes even cocoa emerge. On the palate, its firm tannins and freshness make it a grape variety particularly prized for wines with ageing potential.

🍽️ When it comes to food and wine pairings, it goes perfectly with grilled meats, slow-cooked dishes, a rib of beef or mature cheeses. An ideal companion for hearty cuisine and moments of sharing.

Even today, Cabernet Sauvignon continues to evolve with the times. Winemakers are seeking greater finesse and balance to produce more elegant wines, whilst preserving the deep-rooted identity of this legendary grape variety.
